Finn and Wensleydale are the two breeds of the ewes from which this beautiful, bright white fleece comes from. Really white fleece is so hard to clean and hard to find. Not anymore! HERE IT IS! Clean, lustrous and very white.
- From each 20g jumble of washed fleece Finn/Wensleydale LOCKS you can pull individual locks for felting and spinning. I can see some pretty nice gnome beards coming from these locks. Or add texture to 3D sculptures of owls, birds, wild-haired crones and, well, sheep.
- These locks were washed as a whole fleece and will arrive as a handful of lustrous and soft, silky curls. Each individual curl of wool (lock!) has been pulled from the fleece before washing, lined up with all the cut ends at one end and washed one at a time then tied in a bundle. Whew! It’s very labour intensive but so worth it.
- These locks come from a special woman-run farm in Ontario.. The sheep breeds raised are specifically for spinning fibre that is has lustre and softness. They use a feeding system that reduces vegetable matter from getting into the fleece (because we all know “vm” is a pain to get out when you're processing wool!)

Each lock is approximately 10 cm long and well-defined.
All the locks at Maplerose are veggie matter-free and from ewes.
