Elsa Bescow is one of Sweden't best-loved authors and illustrators. She was born in Stockholm in 1874. Her drawings and writing were first published by the children's magazine Jultomten in 1894.
Her books became hugely popular and have been translated into many languages. She continued writing and illustrating throughout her life, publishing over thirty books, the last at the age of 78.
